15 oz coffee mug with an African American Rosie image on front and back. The following is printed between the two Rosie images:
When the United States entered World War II, war production had to increase dramatically. Women were needed to work in the factories as many of the men were leaving for the service. The government launched a campaign to sell the importance of the war effort and to encourage women to join the workforce. With a We Can Do It! poster, they promoted the fictional character of "Rosie the Riveter" as the ideal woman worker: loyal, efficient, patriotic, and pretty. The illustration on this mug, inspired by that poster, recognizes the contribution made to the war effort by women of color.
